President Obama's own words regarding health care reform:
"One of my jobs, as President, will be to guide this process so that it's an honest process."
"All of this will be done on C-SPAN in front of the public."
"A public process...transparent and accountable to the American people."

"Reforming" What Already Works
Dear Congressman Schrader:
Backroom deals with labor unions and special interests, billions in "pork" in return for "yea" votes, two thousand pages of indecipherable mumbo-jumbo, trillions of dollars in new taxes, penalties and PRISON for non-compliance, Federal "reform" of health care when upwards of 80 PER CENT of Americans are content with what they have, evisceration of Medicare to temporarily offset the costs this program, or POGROM, if you will, and you need to ask why so many oppose a "yea" vote?
Do you even listen to your constituency?
Are you doing what the People want, or what your PARTY wants?
All "yea" votes will be remembered in November. And this Congress will be "fundamentally transformed," including your seat.
Meanwhile, Islamo-fascist lunatics blithely stroll around without a whisper of fear from our Homeland Security "forces," millions of new unemployment claims appear monthly, and multi-million dollar malpractice suits abound with impunity.
Face it, Dear Readers, D.C. is deaf, dumb AND blind when it comes to you and me.

ORS 260.432 and Public Schools
I received the following on Friday afternoon from the (School) Business Manager at the Portland High School which my son attends, in spite of Oregon's election laws which forbid public employees from electioneering during working hours or by utilizing publicly-owned systems such as e-mail lists:
To: (school's name)-parents-list-bounces@mailman.pps.k12.or.us
TAX ELECTION:
January votes could affect PPS schools
In the January 26 election, voters will decide two measures that could impact Portland Public Schools’ budget:
Measure 66 increases state income taxes on Oregonians making more than $125,000 in taxable income, or couples making more than $250,000. Raises $472 million.
Measure 67 increases the state minimum tax for corporations from $10, and raises taxes on larger or profitable corporations. Raises $255 million.
Together, the two taxes raise $726 million for the state over two years.
YES votes would support tax increases passed by the Legislature and maintain current funding for schools and other services.
NO votes would eliminate the tax increases and require the Legislature to rebalance the 2009-11 budget with $726 million less.
Most of the PPS budget comes from the state. If the state were to cut $726 million from the budget, that could mean roughly $23 million less for Portland Public Schools (about $15 million from Measure 66 and $8 million from Measure 67).The potential impact on PPS schools? That $23 million is the equivalent of 18 days of school for students, or 270 teaching positions.
(For those of you who attended Public Schools, that's three percent of the tax increase.)

Meanwhile, Back on Earth...
Last week the Obumble administration revised the "newspeak" term "jobs created (zero) or saved " (-1,650,000 since he took office), and now speaks in terms of "jobs funded," since no real jobs have either been created nor saved by the 860 Billion-dollar "economic stimulus" law passed last January. So, the "funding" has been provided to create jobs, but there's no point in creating a job if there's no industry capable of providing said jobs. Building new homes is at a standstill: plumbers, carpenters, brickmasons, tilesetters, truck drivers, sawyers, and the list goes on and on, are stuck with "looking for work" as pizza cooks, telemarketers, and dog walkers, none of which pays a living wage. Intel, HP, Tek and others are laying off faster than Rosie O'Donald at an all-you-can-eat dessert bar. Why do you suppose that 8 or ten million illegals went back home? Not due to the goodness of their hearts, but because there are NO YOBS for them to steal.
Time to wake up and smell the Yuban, folks: this recession is going to be here for a long while. This is the worst possible time to raise taxes and/or create "entitlements" such as Federalized healthcare "management." Since the same type of bureaucrats who "saved" the nation's economy and "averted" the latest Islamo-facist terror attack will be put in charge of our medical care, include me out.

Measures 66 & 67
According to an e-mail from a local school administrator, failure to pass 66 and 67 will mean dire consequences for Portland Public Schools: budget cuts, shorter school years, layoffs, no sports, puppies drowning, kittens ripped asunder, children unable to pass ESL in less than 5 years: Same old, same old.
Meanwhile, the State-of-Oregon employment opportunities site lists available UNION jobs like:
Receptionist: $38,148 plus PERS
Office Specialist: $38,340 plus PERS
Employment Office: $42,564 plus PERS
Road Maintenance: $42,564 plus PERS
DMV Clerk*, entry level: $38,820 plus PERS
PERS perks, including healthcare insurance, are currently estimated at $10,000 per year or more.
Do YOU pay your receptionist $38k per year, plus perks? And your wife is OK with that?
Gee, I wonder if the SEIU has a hand in this. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
*This position requires fluency in Chinese or Russian languages, just like all of our highway signs.

Meanwhile, Back in Emerald City...
Today, President Obummer revealed another new rathole for your tax dollars: "Clean Energy Jobs," to the tune of 2.5 Billion dollars. For your investment of only a thousand dollars or so per taxpayer, we'll get "clean energy" from Windmills, none of which are manufactured in America! And that is supposed to stop this runaway slide into the next Great Depression? Brilliant. Don Quixote plays D.C.
And we should ignore the fact that, while private-sector jobs are disappearing at the rate of 4,500 per month, Federal government employment continues to grow at a cancerous rate.
Given that huge chunks of the last economic "stimulus" went to "create jobs" in non-existent zip codes and in fictional congressional districts, and at an average cost of $80,000 per "job" created, all each of us needs to do is form a "green energy" shell LLC with the help of Legal Zoom, apply for one of the six-figure grants, and wait for the check.
"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain: I am OZ, the great and powerful!"
Apparently Mr. O's cocaine-snorting days are not entirely behind him.
