Measures 66 & 67

According to an e-mail from a local school administrator, failure to pass 66 and 67 will mean dire consequences for Portland Public Schools:  budget cuts, shorter school years, layoffs, no sports, puppies drowning, kittens ripped asunder, children unable to pass ESL in less than 5 years:  Same old, same old.

Meanwhile, the State-of-Oregon  employment opportunities site lists available UNION jobs like:
Receptionist:                   $38,148 plus PERS
Office Specialist:             $38,340 plus PERS
Employment Office:         $42,564 plus PERS
Road Maintenance:          $42,564 plus PERS
DMV Clerk*, entry level:    $38,820 plus PERS

PERS perks, including healthcare insurance, are currently estimated at $10,000 per year or more.

Do YOU pay your receptionist $38k per year, plus perks?  And your wife is OK with that?

Gee, I wonder if the SEIU has a hand in this.  Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Meanwhile, Back in Emerald City...

Today, President Obummer revealed another new rathole for your tax dollars:  "Clean Energy Jobs," to the tune of 2.5 Billion dollars.  For your investment of only a thousand dollars or so per taxpayer, we'll get "clean energy" from Windmills, none of which are manufactured in America!  And that is supposed to stop this runaway slide into the next Great Depression?  Brilliant.  Don Quixote plays D.C.

And we should ignore the fact that, while private-sector jobs are disappearing at the rate of 4,500 per month, Federal government employment continues to grow at a cancerous rate.

Given that huge chunks of the last economic "stimulus" went to "create jobs" in non-existent zip codes and in fictional congressional districts, and at an average cost of $80,000 per "job" created, all each of us needs to do is form a "green energy" shell LLC with the help of Legal Zoom, apply for one of the six-figure grants, and wait for the check.

A New Paul Revere

"Once again the liberals in Congress are taking action that threatens our Liberty. Even worse, now they are negotiating the final important details of the healthcare takeover behind closed doors.

This is nothing less than a flagrant disregard of the trust of the American people. Our Republic depends on openness, on our citizens being able to learn about legislation and making their thoughts known to Members of Congress.

This week, Brian Lamb of C-SPAN wrote to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid. Lamb and C-SPAN offered to put the entire backroom deal making on TV. So far, neither Reid nor Pelosi have agreed to have the public watch as the liberals plot to enact a government run healthcare system.

We need to take action now. I need you to do the following three action items to let Congress know we expect them to conduct business in the open where we can view the proceedings.

Email or call either Speaker Pelosi ( AmericanVoices@mail.house.gov or 202-225-0100 ) or Senator Reid ( reid.senate.gov/contact or 202-224-3542 ) and tell them to make the healthcare negotiations public.

Call your Congressman and ask him or her to call for open meetings or to announce he/she will oppose any healthcare deal completed behind closed doors: No Member of Congress should support a bill whose details are unknown to the public.

Together we can bring the liberals out in the open and expose their plan to put the government in charge of your healthcare."

Moe, Larry & Curly Go to Washington

Dear Congressman Schrader;

President pro-tem Obama has urged taxing the so-called "Cadillac" health plans in order to help pay for the alleged 20-to-40 millions of uninsured.

One dilemma for Portland-metro area residents is the health plan offered to TriMet operators and retirees, which costs in excess of  $1,900 per person per month, and all of it paid by the taxpayers.

So, we pay taxes to provide a "Cadillac," then we get taxed to pay the tax on that "Cadillac," then we get taxed a third time to provide a "less-than-Cadillac" to everyone not currently enjoying a "Cadillac," right? Have I missed any levels of taxation?
God Bless America! What a Country!

"Fairness Doctrine"

Vote: Nov. 2010
The U.S. House & Senate have voted themselves $4,700 and $5,300 raises.
How big a raise did YOU get this year?  That is, IF you still have a job.

1.  They voted to not give a S.S. Cost of Living raise in 2010 and 2011.
2. Medicaid premiums will go up $285.60 for those 2yrs and you will not get the 3% COLA: $660/yr. The total 2yrs loss is:$1,600 or $3,200 for husband and wife.
3. Over that same 2yrs they each get $10,000 .
4. Do you feel SCREWED yet?
5. Will they experience the same cost increases for drugs, doctor fees, local taxes, food, etc.?

NO WAY .

They have a fat pay raise and the Mother of all "Cadillac" health plans.
Why should they listen to you? You never did anything about it in the past.
To them, you obviously are too lazy, too stupid, or you just don't care.  So...

SEND THEM THIS MESSAGE: YOU'RE FIRED!!
IN 2010 YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET RID OF THE SITTING CONGRESS:
Up to 1/3 OF THE SENATE, AND 100% OF THE HOUSE.
MAKE SURE YOU'RE STILL MAD IN NOVEMBER 2010
AND REMIND THEIR REPLACEMENTSNOT TO SCREW UP.
Proposed Amendment 28
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United
States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives,
and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators or
Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the
United States ."

Rep. Cao's View of Obamacare

January 4, 2010
Dear Mr. NeonLeon:

Thank you for contacting me regarding health reform. It is important for me to know your views, and I appreciate your taking the time to contact me.

The Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962) passed the U.S. House of Representatives on November 7, 2009 by a vote of 220-215. The Senate is considering its version of the health bill. If the Senate bill passes, it must be merged with the House bill and passed by both chambers before being sent to the President for his signature.

I voted for H.R. 3962 because I view access to health care as a moral principle and am deeply concerned about the state of health care in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes and across the U.S. I was very concerned about the potential for the bill to allow for federal funding of abortion - about which tens of thousands of my constituents have written to me. However, the Stupak-Pitts Amendment passed immediately before the final vote on H.R. 3962, and it bans federal funding of abortion except in the instance of rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother.

The U.S. health care system lags behind the rest of the industrialized world in terms of cost, affordability, access, and outcomes.
Health care spending is rising while Americans are getting sicker and losing access to health care.

This is particularly the case in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes. Over 57% of our medical facilities still have not reopened since Hurricane Katrina, and we still do not have a hospital and have very few clinics in New Orleans East. Nearly two-thirds of New Orleans residents report chronic health problems -a 45% increase since 2006- yet we have fewer doctors to treat them because medical professionals continue to leave our area. New Orleans is now a national leader in diabetes, heart disease, and new cases of HIV and Hepatitis with very few options for addressing these challenges. Alarmingly, in 2008, more than 100,000 individuals, or 21.7% of Orleans and Jefferson Parish residents, were uninsured, as compared with the national average of 15.0%.

Weighty Matters

A lot of people have asked me how I lost so much weight ( 60 lbs.) in so little time ( 2-1/2 mos.), so I thought I'd tell all of you: "MEDIFAST."  5 pre-packaged "meals" and one "lean & green" home-cooked meal daily.  My daily weight loss was 1lb/day for the first 45 days/pounds.  The drop slowed a bit, so I extended my "diet" for two weeks, no biggie.

Anyone wishing to lose 30 or more pounds should look at Medifast.  100% recommended by me.

It truly works, and it's 100% up to you.
