This Just In....

Researchers at Arizona and at Loma Linda University in California discovered in a separate study last fall that reusable grocery bags that aren't regularly washed turn into bacterial swamps, serving as breeding grounds for dangerous food-borne bacteria and posing a serious risk to public health.

"It's like wearing the same underwear every day," Gerba tells MSNBC.

Meanwhile, the Oregon legislature is "considering" a ban on plastic bags.

HB 2804 requires evidence of citizenship for persons registering to vote for the first time in Oregon.   CAUSA (Conquistadors Attacking the USA) believes this proposal to be "racially motivated," and is campaigning against it, because, after all, our elections should be at least as honest as, oh, Mexico's, right?

HB 2802 creates the crimes of failure to carry an alien registration document (green card) and encouraging unlawful immigration. It also requires employers to verify immigration status of employees hired after January 1, 2012.  Again, CAUSA sees Hispanic-centered discrimination in this, and not the discouragement of human trafficking or illegal entry.

HB 2806, Section 3 requires contractors doing business with public agencies to verify citizenship status of all employees before the execution of the contract.  Of course, CAUSA takes offense, apparently because the taxpayers should leap at the chance to employ illegal alien invaders.

Representative Kim Thatcher of Keizer is the bills' author.  I salute you, madam!

The State and the Union

As a former Teamster, I can only say that my retirement pension would be substantially larger if three of the last four union presidents hadn't embezzled and absconded with the billions in pension funds.  So, here's to unions and their goals:

But perhaps Michael Moore, the man who puts the "buffet" in "buffoon" is more to your liking:

The Faces of Meth

I normally avoid MSNBC like the plague, but the mug shots of Multnomah County arrestees struck too close to home.  These would be instructive for your kids and grandkids when their "friends" offer to get them "high."  The downward spiral so graphically displayed  is truly sickening.  Note the dates.  She is one of the least-damaged.
