Sinko de Flago

An interesting tidbit from the Bay Area NBC news affiliate:

Five high school students were told to remove their bandanas and t-shirts because they resembled the Stars and Stripes of the American Flag or face suspension from school.  Of course, it was on "Cinco de Mayo," or "Mexican Heritage Day" at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, California.  The school's administrators called the flag representations "incendiary."

One student, Annicia Nunez, stated: "I think they should apologize cause it is a Mexican Heritage Day.  We don't deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn't do that on Fourth of July."  Ri-i-ight.

As for an apology, the boys and their families say, 'fat chance!"  Ole!  Ooops: "Bravo!"  Dang!: "Cheers!"

The boys' actions were every bit as contemptible and "incendiary" as wearing orange on St. Patrick's day, or eating a pork chop during Ramadan, or not watching the Super Bowl.  In America, we are FREE to choose which things we enjoy, honor, or worship.  Don't like Rush?  Change the station.  Hate Olbermann?  Turn off the TV.  But defend their First Amendment rights:  We have NO NEED for a nanny-state to tell us what is or is not acceptable.  This is NOT Mexico, nor Ireland, nor Syria, nor "Pock-ee-stahn."

Political Correctness runs amok.  Yank your children from public schools as quickly as you can.
